  3. <hi style=afpcap>The split tail, ravenous air intake, and blended lines are trademarks of the advanced technology that the Air Force wanted in a proposed F-15 Eagle replacement. The unbroken bubble canopy gives the pilot of this Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) possibly the best all-around visibility of anyone who ever went aloft to fly and fight. This is, of course, the Lockheed YF-22 which defeated the unsuccessful Northrop YF-23 to win a production contract as the next-generation ATF.</hi>
